Sisterhood

Gamma Phi Beta was created as a women's organization that would promote the highest type of womanhood through growth in appreciating lifelong educational values, sharing responsibility for maintaining high standards of conduct, social interaction, and service to country and humanity. Today, Gamma Phi sisters maintain these values in an ever-changing world.

Sisterhood teaches the true meaning of friendship. Gamma Phi Beta friendships are bonds that last a lifetime. Once you are an initiated member, you remain a sister for life.

As such, we have an extensive alumnae network. As you know, in today's job market, it is not only important what you know, but who you know. Being a Gamma Phi Beta means having an immediate connection with thousands of other fraternity or sorority members. There are many successful Greek alumni all over the country who are always looking to hire the best and the brightest that our Greek community has to offer. In addition, there are Gamma Phi Beta alumnae chapters that operate in most cities and metropolitan areas across the country. If you find yourself in a new city, you can start your networking with your sisters in the local alumnae group.

Gamma Phi truly is a Sisterhood for a Lifetime!

Sisterhood Stories

“Gamma Phi has been my "passion".  It has allowed me to be a leader, as well as a follower.  It has challenged me and rewarded me, and always, it has been a learning experience.  However, all the positions I have held would have meant nothing without the people - the Gamma Phi sisters with whom I have shared the good times and the bad, the laughter and the tears.  I have truly known love, labor, learning and loyalty, plus much laughter, because of Gamma Phi Beta and my Gamma Phi sisters, who are my very best friends.   And, almost fifty years later, Gamma Phi Beta still makes me feel that "I" can always be "me".
~Karen Wander Kline ’61 former International Gamma Phi Beta President 1978-1982

“My four collegiate years at Gamma Phi Beta were filled with endless memorable moments.  I knew my time there was going to impact my life, but I can say that I am who I am today because of the mental and social growth I experienced and the leadership skills I developed through being a Gamma Phi. One of my favorite memories is sleeping at the chapter house during Inspiration Week--we stayed up late talking and laughing, forming the strong friendships I still have today. “

~ Melissa Schroeder 2000:  Class of 2008 Indiana University School of Optometry

“ I can honestly say that Gamma Phi presented numerous opportunities to get involved at ISU and I took full advantage of it.  Along with introducing me to a variety of organizations, leadership positions, etc. G-Phi gave me the confidence to pursue involvement.  I was fortunate enough to have older members encourage me to apply and simply go for it when I might have otherwise opted to not put myself out there.  My pledge class was also a group of “go-getters” who pushed each other to excel.  Without Gamma Phi, I would not have been as involved at ISU during my collegiate career and probably would not have been as successful during my college and post-college years.”
