Philanthropy & Service

  • Camp Fire USA

Gamma Phi Beta’s International Vision is for a complete Gamma Phi Beta woman
to be a leader in her community while believing in philanthropy and helping young girls through our international philanthropy, Camp Fire USA is a non-profit youth organization that helps kids develop skills that they will need for life, including leadership and self-reliance.

This past year our chapter raised over $4,000 benefitting Camp Fire USA Heart of the Hawkeye Council. This camp in Des Moines annually serves over 12, 500 participants in over half of the 99 counties in Iowa. Our donation to the General Campership Fund helps eligible kids attend Hantesa or any of the day camps

Each fall our chapter hosts a pancake dinner at 318 Pearson Ave. This past fall we held "Crescent Classic Cakes" which we fipped flapjacks, served sausage links and pour O.J. in support of Camp Fire USA.  We raised over $2,000 for Camp Fire.

Be sure to join us next fall for another "Crescent Classic"!

  • Day of Service

    5th Annual Day of Service
    Building Resiliency in Girls
    Thursday, March 17, 2011

Gamma Phi Beta International Sorority is committed to improving our communities by providing experiences and resources that build spiritual, mental and social resiliency in girls.

Kid DayDay of Service, held each March, coincides with Camp Fire USA's "Absolutely Incredible Kid Day." On this day, we ask our sisters to invest their time, talent and resources in girls (ages 5-12) and in their community. If the specified date for Day of Service is not convenient, members may perform the service activity some time in March.

A 2006 research report from Girls Inc., reveals that girls today experience intense pressure, at ever younger ages, to be everything to everyone all of the time. According to the study, girls need support systems to bolster their ability to achieve their dreams and endure stress. This is where Gamma Phi Betas can make a difference; we can make new friends and show these girls just how "incredible" they are.
